International Women's Day 2026: Give to Gain

Written by Nenah Kumar | Mar 4, 2026 10:38:03 AM

Women around the world still face barriers that hold them back – from unequal pay and missing out on leadership roles, to struggles accessing healthcare and essential services. This International Women’s Day is all about ‘Give to Gain’ – giving support to women and seeing the difference it makes. Read how we do this every day at Word360…

In 2026, it’s challenging to believe we still live in a world where women face persistent inequality. From educational barriers and gender pay gaps, to systemic bias and unequal access to healthcare, women across the globe continue to experience disparities that affect their wellbeing and opportunities.

International Women’s Day is a reminder that progress doesn’t happen by accident. We all have a role to play in driving change within our communities, workplaces and society - by speaking up, turning commitments into action, and giving back in meaningful ways.

How We 'Give to Gain' at Word360

Give to Gain is the theme of International Women’s Day 2026. It invites organisations and individuals to reflect on what they give to support women, and what is gained in return.

Inclusion, accessibility and amplifying underrepresented voices sit at the heart of everything we do. Supporting women - particularly those facing multiple barriers, is not a side initiative - it’s embedded in our purpose. Below are just some of the ways we give, and the impact that giving creates.

Give a Voice

We care deeply about equality for women, especially in health and care settings where gender bias can have serious consequences. Women’s pain is more likely to be undertreated, symptoms dismissed, and mental health concerns misunderstood - challenges like these are only intensified when language barriers exist.

Our role as a language services provider is to remove those barriers and ensure communication is clear and accessible. Across healthcare, we support thousands of women every year in maternity services, mental health units, GP practices and hospitals by providing professional interpreting and translation services. This ensures women who do not speak English well or at all, can fully understand their diagnosis, treatment options and care.

Put yourself in their shoes...

Clear communication isn’t a ‘nice to have’, it’s essential. By giving women a voice, we help restore dignity and trust - and gain better health outcomes for individuals and systems.

Beyond healthcare, we also work with charities such as Women’s Aid, a national organisation dedicated to ending domestic abuse against women and children. To ensure every voice is heard safely, we delivered bespoke, fully compliant language solutions designed to protect sensitive data while enabling access to vital support. Give Opportunities

We’re proud that over half of our management and leadership roles at Word360 are held by women.

In 2025, The Standard reported that the rate of women being hired into leadership roles had fallen for the third year in a row. LinkedIn data showed that women held just 36.8% of leadership positions, a year-on-year decline of 2.1%. At a time when progress is stalling, we believe organisations must actively create space for women to lead and not wait for change to happen on its own.

Women also make up over 70% of our linguist network. This reflects both the reality of the language sector and our commitment to creating flexible, meaningful opportunities for women at every stage of their careers. By valuing expertise, lived experience and cultural insight, we empower women to thrive - and in return, we gain a more resilient service for the communities we support.

Give Access

Access sits at the core of equality. By delivering language solutions across the NHS, local government, councils and schools, we help remove barriers that prevent people from accessing essential information and services.

For women, access can be life-changing - whether that’s understanding a safeguarding process, engaging with a child’s education, attending a medical appointment, or navigating public services independently. Through professional interpreting and translation, we ensure women are not excluded from decisions that affect their health and safety.

Tools like Wordskii Connect make access even more immediate. Non-English-speaking users can call key services and helplines independently using a simple number and code. They are connected directly to the service they need with a professional interpreter on the line, giving them the ability to access essential services with confidence.

This is where Give to Gain truly comes to life. When women have access…

  • Systems work better
  • Outcomes improve
  • Trust grows
  • Communities become stronger.

Moving Forward Together

This International Women’s Day reminds us that what we give has a lasting impact. When women can communicate clearly, access services confidently, and feel heard, the benefits extend far beyond the individual - shaping stronger services and fairer systems for everyone.

Give to Gain reflects our ongoing commitment to removing barriers so women can take an active role in decisions about their health, safety and lives.

As gender inequality persists – particularly for women facing language barriers, we remain focused on listening and actioning improvements. This International Women’s Day, and every day, we continue working towards a more inclusive future where women’s voices are not just included but valued.
